1929 Ford Model A Wood Body Truck

This is a very fine example of a customized Model A pickup truck with a wood body optimized for mobile sales. This configuration for Model A trucks used a wood body typically created by a coachbuilder or added by an owner or dealer using a boday from a kit company. Some trucks were even fitted with individually custom-carpentered wood bodies. The wood body configurations for this era were aftermarket conversions, as this option was not directly offered from the Ford factory for this model. These types of trucks are sometimes referred to unofficially as a Model A “Huckster” trucks, due to this type of truck being used by mobile sales people or peddlers. The term “huckster” is a derogatory reference to sales people who use pushy, aggressive, or dishonest tactics, so it’s unlikely anyone in Ford Motor Company management would ever have approved of the usage of such a term as “huckster” to be associated with Ford products.
